Max Towers – Innovative façade infill from Protektor characterizes exclusive residential project
In Aesch near Basel, the Max Towers are two striking residential towers that form the heart of the new Aere district. The project combines exclusive living comfort with technical innovation. As total contractor, HRS Investment AG was responsible for the development – with full cost, quality and deadline guarantees.
The architecture comes from the internationally renowned Max Dudler office. With offices in Berlin, Zurich, Frankfurt and Munich, it has stood for clear design language, high-quality materials and timeless design for over 30 years. This attitude also characterizes the Max Towers – structured, high-quality and forward-looking.
A special highlight: the innovative ediWall IF façade infill system from Protektor. The edificio lightweight steel profiles provide a stable base as a substructure.
Thanks to the external cladding with Siniat Weather Defence board, the building is already fully protected against the weather during the construction phase. The VCW from Ecolite was anchored directly into the lightweight steel substructure. The external wall is therefore a sustainable and deconstructable construction. It is also lightweight, non-combustible (RF1), meets high sound, thermal and fire protection requirements and enables quick, dry installation – without drying out times.
A major advantage: integration into the drywall construction work accelerated the construction process and reduced the number of interfaces with other trades. In addition, the construction safely absorbs all wind and impact loads. An earthquake certificate was also provided for the system.
Technical performance data ediWall IF:
- Thermal insulation: U-value ≤ 0.14 W/m²K
- Fire protection: RF1 – non-combustible (SN EN 13501-1)
- Sound insulation: R’w+Ctr ≥ 38 dB (required)
- Stability: absorption of wind and impact loads
- Sustainability: can be dismantled and separated by type
Advantages for planners and building owners:
- Quick, dry installation
- Slim wall construction for more living space
- Lasting stability and safety
- Ideal for sustainable housing construction
- System solution from a single source
Each of the towers has a volume of approx. 32,850 m³, around 10,300 m² of floor space and over 5,800 m² of usable living space. The construction period ran from September 2022 to November 2024, at a total cost of CHF 120 million.
