Façade infill with Edifico lightweight steel construction
Thanks to Protektor’s Edificio Infill Wall Systems, the façade infill
for the sports hall and canteen is easily
Our Edificio lightweight steel construction system makes the work of specialist contractors more efficient, simpler and continuously better – for example, the processing of façade infills. In proven cooperation with Siniat and the specialist fabricator Interaktustik GmbH, we were also able to demonstrate this in this construction project.
In addition to façade infill, the new building in Langenhagen was about closing gaps, lightweight steel construction profiles, non-combustible materials, easy processing and the well-established partnership between our lightweight steel construction team and the dry construction experts from Siniat.
The project: New construction of a grammar school with a five-court sports hall and canteen for 1,700 pupils and 200 teachers. Client: City of Langenhagen, architect Gernot Schulz from Cologne, contractor: Interakustik GmbH. Our contribution: the substructure planning of the set variant of the façade infill.
Substructure with Edificio lightweight steel construction
The sports hall and canteen are housed in one structure. The discontinued version of the façade infill was used to close the façade. This “Infill Wall” is based on an edifico lightweight steel substructure to which Weather Defense panels from Siniat are mounted for direct weathering. Wind suction and pressure as well as the weight of the suspended timber façade are absorbed solely by the edificio lightweight steel wall.
Just like drywall construction and therefore not heavy: this façade infill is easy for specialist contractors to work with
A major advantage is the low weight of the gypsum-based Siniat panels, which can be easily processed on the scaffolding and inserted into the edificio lightweight steel wall: simply score, bend and cut to length.
The specially developed adhesive tape seals joints, preventing wind and rain from entering gaps.
Larch profiles were then attached vertically to the façade construction in the form of lamellas, with LaPlura panels on the inside.
An additional facing formwork enabled a flush finish to the concrete surface.
And that’s it.
Not difficult, is it?
Façade infill with Infill Wall – Protektor and Siniat make it easy for specialist contractors
edificio lightweight steel construction profiles from Protektor and Weather Defence panels from Siniat combine to form a pretty unbeatable system duo for quick and easy to install façade infill. Why? This is what the specialist contractor Christian Fiedler from Interakustik GmbH explains:
“The lightweight steel construction system was very easy to work with, and the dry construction method suited my fitters very well. In particular, the easy processing of Weather Defense is a huge advantage over cement-bound panels. The delivery of the materials went smoothly and the service was very good. All in all, a very good system.”
Edifico the lightweight steel construction system from Protektor enables fast, flexible and sustainable façade construction
- Low construction weight of the outer wall
- Savings on primary load-bearing structures
- Dimensional stability
- No additional fire load in construction
- without organic components (moisture, mold)
- with EPD (Environmental Product Declaration)
With Edificio lightweight steel construction from Protektor, façade infill panels can be built using standardized systems – quickly, flexibly and sustainably. And if the construction site takes longer? No problem – thanks to the special waterproof Weather Defense panel from Siniat, it can be exposed to the elements for up to 12 months.
Façade infill from Protektor:
What planners and specialist contractors should know
– the variant presented achieves additional space
– achieves very good U-values, KFW40 is also possible
– offers maximum flexibility and allows high installation speed
– part of the outer shell in skeleton construction
– non-load-bearing outer wall
– absorbs wind and impact loads
– thanks to the special waterproof Weather Defence panel from Siniat, the outer wall can be left exposed to the weather for up to 12 months until the final façade design.
